Dielectric metasurfaces, two-dimensional arrays of optical meta-atoms, offer a compact and novel platform to manipulate the phase, amplitude, and polarization of incoming optical wavefronts in a desired manner by engineering the structural geometry and dimension of meta-atoms. In polarization control, spin switchable metasurfaces have attracted significant attention due to the enhanced performance and multifunctionality. By taking local control over the polarization and phase into a single metasurfaces, a reconfigurable and multifunctional metasurface can be realized. Here, we propose a spin switchable design principle based on metasurfaces that can perform switchable functionality by changing the handedness of incident light. As a proof of concept, we design a spin switchable vortex beam carrying Orbital Angular Momentum (OAM) and beam splitter to split and divide the incident beam with an appropriate angle. The proposed design approach provides a new avenue for spin switchable photonic devices, which can be used for applications in optical communication, multiplexing, and imaging.
