Abstract
The article describes the facilities and work of the UWIST machine-vision laboratory. Among the topics discussed are: (a) general items (the room, shrouding, object manipulation, lighting and optics) (b) image sensors (television, flying spot scanners and solid-state devices) (c) image processing (a large versatile system and a smaller portable system) (d) applications studies to illustrate the kind of work currently being undertaken in the laboratory.
