17 March 1983 Image Scale, Translation, And Intensity Transformations For Real-Time Image Generation

Abstract
A digital video processor (DVP) was developed for use in a real-time image generation facility. The DVP is capable of transforming a video input image into a scaled, translated, and intensity-modified video output image. The processing is unique for three reasons. First, it allows a high degree of resolution in the scale factor (i.e., noninteger values). Second, it allows the desired scale, translation, and intensity modification factors to be stipulated immediately before the transformation occurs (i.e., nonpreprogrammed operation). Third, it performs the transformation in one video frame time (i.e., in near real time).
