Abstract
This paper illustrates the development of a prototype expert system to simulate the current practice of log bucking/allocation operations at a wood product manufacturing facility with three different mills. Limitations with the prototype and technical needs to develop a full scale expert system for log bucking/allocation operations are discussed.
