Abstract
The Femtofiber Ultrafast 920 provides the best image brightness with short pulses, high power, and a clean temporal pulse shape. With TOPTICA's unique Clean-Pulse Technology, the FemtoFiber ultra 920 features the highest relative peak power and enables unmatched brightness in 2-photon microscopy without unwanted heating of the sample. Turn-key and intuitive operation and fully-integrated dispersion compensation ensure shortest pulses at the sample and built-in power control make the system extremely user-friendly. In this demonstration, Dr. Max Eisele unpacks the FemtoFiber Ultra 920 laser, explaining the components of the laser head and controller and highlighting the top-rated specs and capability of the device. Then, he shows the laser control software that enables users to adjust the operation mode, output power and other settings. We give a hands-on demonstration of integrating a the 920nm fiber-laser into a two-photon microscope that is optimized for the excitation and detection of green fluorescent proteins, typically used in neuroscience applications. We demonstrate that image quality can be improved by adjusting the laser's GDD compensation settings to raise the intensity and improve image contrast.
