Abstract
Recently, we proposed a simple, fast subtraction method to determine 1-D image displacement with subpixel accuracy. In this paper, we provide a theoretical basis for our method and simulate 2-D motion estimation. Results are also analysed using the correlation technique. The results show that for any general motion in 2-D, involving any combination of motion Δx, and Δy, the Subtraction Method can be used to determine the values of Δx, and Δy using 1-D calibration.
