Paper Numbering: A unique citation identifier (CID) number is assigned to each article in the Proceedings of SPIE at the time of publication. Utilization of CIDs allows articles to be fully citable as soon as they are published online, and connects the same identifier to all online and print versions of the publication. SPIE uses a seven-digit CID article numbering system structured as follows:

  • The first five digits correspond to the SPIE volume number.

  • The last two digits indicate publication order within the volume using a Base 36 numbering system employing both numerals and letters. These two-number sets start with 00, 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 0A, 0B … 0Z, followed by 10-1Z, 20-2Z, etc. The CID Number appears on each page of the manuscript.

Introduction

This year in Beijing, China, we held the eighth conference of Optical Systems, Optoelectronic Instruments, Novel Display and Imaging Technology, which has been a conference with OIT since its inauguration in 2008. In 2021, despite COVID, we selected 34 oral presentations from over 130 submissions to this conference, including 12 invited talks. Experts from United States, Japan, Australia, and China attended the conference online, and presented latest research findings. We also had an excellent attentive audience who provided many good questions.

There were eight sessions in the conference of Optical Systems and Modern Optoelectronic Instruments:

  • Session 1: Holography

  • Session 2: Advanced Display

  • Session 3: Optical Imaging

  • Sessions 4-6: Bio-Photonics

  • Session 7-8: Nano-Photonics

We believe that this year’s Optical Systems, Optoelectronic Instruments, Novel Display and Imaging Technology conference maintained its previous high standards, and we hope that the papers included in the Proceedings will prove valuable to our fellow scientists and engineers.
