Abstract
The rapid development of new energy vehicles in recent years has accelerated the process of smart and networked cars in the automobile industry. Correspondingly, cars are also facing more and more network security threats. However, most of the current car internal communication protocols are still CAN or CAN FD, which were designed without considering communication security issues. Therefore, the ECU inside the car is unable to identify the reliability of the source of the information. In order to help smart vehicles equipped with CAN or CAN FD protocol to better deal with security threats, this study proposes a device fingerprint recognition method based on the root of spectral amplitude share (RSAS) of signal from a physical security perspective and builds a high-fault tolerance signal identity recognition system based on it. The experimental results on CAN FD devices show that our system can achieve near 100% accuracy in identifying signals with just 6.8% of the data in the DATA field of a single frame, which is superior to the result of similar studies. Overall, our method can achieve simple and efficient signal identity authentication without changing the existing communication protocol and with very low computational costs. This lays a foundation for the further development of physical security technology in the field of automobiles and has important practical significance for the construction of a secure device communication system in automobiles.
