Abstract
When there is a fault in a power line, due to the compensation effect of the arc suppression coil, it is difficult to obtain the fault signal and increase the difficulty of location. Therefore, based on traveling wave theory, this paper designs a reliable grounding fault location method suitable for 10 kV distribution networks. According to the fault information at the detection point, the traveling wave energy is calculated using wavelet energy spectrum to directly determine the fault section. If the energy of a certain two detection points is significantly higher than that of other measurement terminals, it is determined that the line between the two detection points is a faulty branch. For multiple ranging results, Grubbs test method is used to eliminate abnormal values and determine the fault location. The test results show that the accuracy of the ground fault location results obtained by this method is high and feasible.
