Abstract
As an essential fruit rich in nutrients, the sugar content of apple is the most concerned quality feature. However, it is difficult to take into account the multiple requirements of low value, portable and nondestructive testing, no matter the traditional sampling method or spectrograph method. Therefore, this paper developed a non-destructive testing system for apple sugar content based on smart phone. After measurement, the Root Mean Square Error (RMSEP) of the prediction set of the system on the Red Fuji sample reaches 0.8%Brix, indicating that the developed system has a high measuring accuracy. The research results have accumulated the engineering practice foundation for the development of commercial nondestructive testing spectrometer with high sensitivity, easy to carry and light weight.
