Abstract
The current availability of images for the recognition of Chinese herbal pieces is very limited, making it challenging to meet the demands of the development of an automatic recognition system for Chinese herbal pieces, particularly one that uses artificial intelligence. This paper uses mobile device shooting and crawling technology to collect the image data of Chinese herbal pieces, uses multi-scale detail boosting algorithm to enhance the image, and finally uses rotation, mirror image and translation to expand the image data, and a dataset containing 64,000 images of commonly used Chinese herbal pieces is constructed, which is divided into 50 categories, which can meet the realization of artificial intelligence technology. In this paper, six convolutional neural network image classification algorithms are evaluated based on the constructed data, namely AlexNet, VGG, GoogLeNet, ResNet, ResNext and MobileNet. Experiments show that the classification accuracy of this dataset can reach more than 90% in six image classification algorithms, so the constructed dataset can be used to verify the effectiveness of the image classification algorithm of Chinese herbal pieces.
