Abstract
LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) is widely used in large-scale architecture measurement because of its high acquisition efficiency. But there are two problems that make it difficult to manage construction projects directly from measurement data: inefficient processing caused by large data size and inaccurate progress analysis caused by occlusion. For these reasons, this paper proposes a two-step approach that consists of data filtering and construction progress analysis. Firstly, to improve the efficiency of processing, a voxel filtering method with variable raster length by adding curvature information is proposed. Secondly, to overcome the occlusion. a construction progress analysis method with cumulative distribution from a projection perspective is performed. To verify this method's effectiveness and reliability, this paper carries out a set of data from a garage. The numerical results show that the proposed indicator can overcome the occlusion phenomenon and represent the distribution of the components efficiently. This paper also compares the degree of data fluctuation between 100% data and 25% data, the difference is less than 0.12 which proves the proposed approach can effectively preserve the key features of the original large-range building data.
