Abstract
This paper presents Railsight, a data visualization and analytics platform for the UK rail industry. The platform is divided into several components, with a back-end webserver facilitated by the Django framework, a flexible front-end web interface developed using React and Echarts (for data visualization), and a database powered on MySQL. Railsight users have the freedom to select from different data sources and visualize them according to their personal preferences, explore specific data slices, choose from different visualization modules, export the data and dynamically adjust the time-series, and to record and view the history of the tables. These features could facilitate a deep understanding of the modern rail system in the UK and in turn improve its operational efficiency, passenger satisfaction, and sustainability.
