Abstract
Wordle is a popular word puzzle game offered by The New York Times, with two different modes: regular and difficult, which will affect the player to varying extent. Given that a report in New York Times shows that the number of reported results is changing every day, a time series forecasting model based on the ARIMA method was built on the data to account for the changes and create a forecast interval for the number of reported results on 1 March 2023. The Pearson coefficient was calculated to determine whether any change in the attributes of the language would have an effect on the percentage of the game scores gained in the difficult mode. For a given future solution word at a future date, a BP neural network-based model was developed to predict the relevant percentage for a future date. Based on entropy method and K-means algorithms to classify solution words according to difficulty, the attributes of a given word associated with each classification are identified. Experimental results show that the model is able to achieve good performance on most datasets.
