Abstract
The utilization of sub-aperture processing technology in optical component manufacturing introduces mid-spatial frequency errors that significantly impact the imaging quality of optical systems. Effectively mitigating these mid-spatial frequency errors has consistently presented a challenging focal point within the realm of optical component manufacturing, with complexity arising in the endeavor to eliminate mid-spatial frequency errors in aspheric optical components. To address this intricate task, this study adopts a smoothing polishing process for a series of comprehensive experiments. Initially, the configuration and composition of the smoothing polishing tool are elucidated, providing a clear understanding of its structural intricacies. Subsequently, an in-depth analysis of the underlying theory governing the smoothing process is undertaken. This theoretical foundation sets the stage for the subsequent execution of multiple smoothing experiments, carried out with a deliberately chosen set of smoothing process parameters. The insights derived from these experiments illuminate the distinct characteristics of the smoothing process. The outcomes of these experiments hold significant implications for refining the smoothing process of aspheric optical components. The empirical findings serve as a valuable guide in enhancing the precision and efficacy of the smoothing procedure, thus contributing to the improvement of optical component manufacturing and the broader field of precision optics.
