Abstract
In order to make use of the vertical lines to the application the aerial triangulation over urban areas, the problem of the auto extracting vertical lines from the large-scale aerial images must be solved at first. In this paper, according to the analysis of the characteristics of the vertical lines in the urban aerial images, some digital image process and line extracting and grouping arithmetic have been assembled together to form an effective auto extracting vertical lines arithmetic. The arithmetic pre-process the aerial images before the line extracting firstly, and then calculate the approximate nadir point position by means of Hough transformation and the vertical lines are also extracted from the auto-extracted lines at the same time, at last a least square template matching with nadir constraints has been used to improve the accuracy of the vertical lines and the intersection accuracy of the nadir point.
