Two personal subscriptions are now available for the SPIE Digital Library. You can get a one-year subscription for up to either 50 or 25 full-article downloads and receive a special discount as an SPIE member. Personal subscriptions represent a significant savings over single-paper purchases, and SPIE members save even more.

Terms of use for your subscription

You have 12 months to download your 50 (or 25) papers, during which time you may track your activity on the My Subscription account page. This account page also serves as a personal archive.

There are several possible scenarios for managing your personal subscription:

1. If you download all of your allocated papers prior to the end of your 12-month subscription period, you may renew for an additional 50 or 25 downloads over a 12-month period starting from the date of renewal. Your subscription access will be continuous.
2. If you download all of your allocated papers prior to the end of the 12-month subscription period but do not wish to renew your subscription, you will continue to have access to your downloaded papers until the 12-month subscription period has expired.
3. If you download fewer than the allocated number of papers during the 12-month subscription period and renew before your subscription expires, your subscription will continue for an additional 12 months from the date of renewal. The unused downloads from your previous subscription will carry over into your new subscription period and be added to the new downloads included with your renewal.

Rights to download new papers cease in two cases: (1) all allocated papers have been downloaded, or (2) the 12-month subscription period has elapsed. If you wish to download additional articles, you will need to renew your subscription or, if your subscription has expired, initiate a new subscription.

Please note that if your subscription expires, you will lose unused downloads and will not be able to carry those over, even if you renew at a later date

Subscribers will receive email notices and reminders advising of low or exhausted download balances or pending subscription expirations.

Personal Subscriptions apply to digital papers only. Hard copies of papers not in digital format may be purchased via a link to the SPIE Bookstore.

Single Paper Download

Nonsubscribers may purchase digital papers directly from the SPIE Digital Library using the Quick Article Buy option.
