Abstract
Image Processing has to rely greatly on the design of effective algorithms. Unfortunately this effectiveness is not seldom paid for by considerable computation times due to the innate complexity. Dedicated hardware in form of a Digital Video Processor (DVP) meets the case since it combines both versatility and speed. This will be illustrated through some typical applications emanating from various areas of Image Processing . KEYWORDS: DVP, nonlinear spatial filtering, topological operations, nonparametric classification
