Carrier-assisted differential detection (CADD) receiver has recently been proposed to recover the optical field of complex-valued double sideband (DSB) signals via direct detection. Since the transfer function of CADD receiver is related to the optical delay, it is more sensitive to the time error in system. As a result, the influence of time error on the performance of CADD receiver is worth carefully investigating. In this paper, we investigate and compare the impact of time errors on the system performance of the newly proposed two type of carrier assisted differential detection (CADD) receiver structures.
