Abstract
This paper introduces the method of leg strength analysis for wind turbine units. First the method of establishing FEM models is discussed, and then environmental loads calculation methods are introduced. Take a 800t wind turbine unit for example, several conditions are checked such as jacking condition, preload condition, operating condition and survival condition. The jacking system capacity and the spudcan bearing capacity are also checked. The results show that the leg strength and spudcan bearing capacity are enough for class rules, but jacking capacity is less than demand. The methods and ideas provided in this paper have some guiding significance for wind turbine units designers.
