Abstract
Lactate, one of the intermediates of metabolic pathways, is becoming the object of researches in recent years. It is found that it is not the waste product from anaerobic respiration, instead, it is considered an important effector for cancer development, cell homeostasis and energy storage for nerve cells in the absent of glucose. Also, it acts as a key signaling molecules not only in cellular metabolic fluxes, but also in immune cell polarization, helping tumor cells escape from immune surveillance. Hence, in depth study of lactate would achieve early diagnosis and treatment of diseases. This paper will focus on the newly understanding of lactate and its stimulation of histone lysine lactylation in the post-translational modification.
