Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common viral infection of the reproductive tract. This virus is the cause of a range of abnormalities in both males and females. Although the majority of HPV infections are harmless and do not show noticeable symptoms, persistent infection with HPV has potential to result in diseases even cancer. In women, persistent infection with two strains of HPV (HPV-16 and HPV-18) accounts for 70% of cervical cancer cases. Also, HPV infection is associated with oropharyngeal and anogenital cancers and other conditions in men and women. HPV vaccine function in preventing and even curing people who are with HPV-associated cancer. However, the mechanisms behind HPV vaccines lack a detailed and clear explanation. Therefore, this review is going to focus on the mechanisms of HPV vaccines in details by utilizing the evaluation research to study the similarities and differences between different types of them. Based on the existed research and information, prospects and clinical trials outlook are also analyzed.
