Abstract

With the ongoing development of the techniques in the new eras, multi-beam line measurement for the assessment of water depth has become a significant research topic. In this paper, we developed a model for multi-beam bathymetric coverage width, taking into account several factors, such as the propagation velocity and propagation time index of sound waves in seawater. Additionally, we considered the correlation between coverage width, line spacing, and overlap rate. The geometric algorithm and triangulation principle were applied for the improvement of multi-beam bathymetric lines. Based on the investigation result of the sounding of each angle route, the shortest route path of sounding suitable for different sea terrains is determined.
