Objective: To assess combined validation of tuberculosis (TB) clinical etiological diagnostic items in phenotypical, immunological, and molecular biological technologies. Method: A comprehensive study is conducted on the 'Chinese core journal database', covering phenotypical, immunological, and molecular biological clinical etiological diagnostic technologies of TB. Retrieved papers are screened, extracted, and systematically evaluated for quality. Meta-analysis is performed on qualified papers. The combined effect values such as combined sensitivity (SEN), combined specificity (SPE), combined positive likelihood ratio (+LR), combined negative likelihood ratio (-LR), combined diagnostic odds ratio (DOR), combined summary receiver operating characteristic area under the curve (SROC AUC) are calculated. Result: A total of 271 relevant papers are retrieved, and 49 qualified papers are included, including 54 TB phenotypical diagnostic technological papers, 39 TB immunological diagnostic technological papers, and 25 TB molecular biological diagnostic technological papers. Combined SEN, SPE, +LR, -LR, DOR, SROC AUC are 0.47 (0.41-0.53), 0.99 (0.98- 0.99), 40.40 (21.80-75.00), 0.53 (0.48-0.60), 76.00 (40.00-144.00), 0.85 (0.82-0.88) in phenotypical diagnostic technology; 0.72 (0.65-0.78), 0.89 (0.85-0.93), 6.70 (4.60-9.80), 0.31 (0.25-0.39), 22.00 (13.00-36.00), 0.88 (0.85-0.91) in immunological diagnostic technology; 0.78 (0.69-0.85), 0.97 (0.95-0.98), 26.10 (15.10-44.80), 0.23 (0.16-0.32), 115.00 (62.00-210.00), 0.96 (0.94-0.97) in molecular biological diagnostic technology. Conclusion: TB phenotypical diagnostic technology has a high combined SPE; TB molecular biological diagnostic technology has a high combined SEN and validation. The combined validation of TB immunological diagnostic technology is between the abovementioned technologies. Appropriate clinical etiological diagnostic technology could be selected based on TB diagnostic laboratories' different levels and functions.
