Abstract
The microstructure of AZ61 alloy containing 1.5%Sm were studied. The results showed that the aged AZ61+1.5%Sm alloy consists the α-Mg, Mg17Al12 eutectic phase and high melting point Al2Sm phase. Al2Sm phases can acting as nucleation site of a-Mg matrix and refine the microstructure of AZ61 alloy.
