Abstract
When using traditional pipeline positioner for welding, manual welding is required, which has a series of adverse factors. This article aims to install an electronic control system on traditional positioner to achieve automation in the pipeline welding process. This greatly reduces manual involvement and can replace humans in welding operations in harsh environments. Taking PLC as the control core, the system senses external signals via sensors to coordinate the operation of multiple motors. Using positional PID method to control the motor, ensuring that the welding gun can accurately reach the specified position with an error of less than 1mm. After testing, the system can run continuously for 120 hours and the weld quality meets the standard, with a 54% increase efficiency compared to manual welding.
