Abstract
Affected by construction of highway reconstruction and expansion, resulting a compression of road traffic space. There are significant differences in traffic flow characteristics between the construction period and the operation period. Therefore, it is particularly important to propose appropriate traffic management strategies for targeted construction periods. This article conducts on-site research and analysis of driving speed characteristics on the traffic diversion section during the construction period of Kaiyang Expressway. Radar and video equipment are used to collect the speed of the diversion area, process and visualize the obtained traffic data, and analyze the speed characteristics of the diversion area section. Suggestions for speed limit values are proposed, providing important technical basis for the design of the diversion area line shape, speed control, and traffic control strategies during the construction period.
