Abstract
Optical parametric oscillators (OPO) of beta-Bariumborate pumped by pulsed single-mode Nd:YAG lasers and seeded with the light of narrowband tunable lasers are powerful coherent light sources which provide high efficiency (40 - 60%), wide tuning range (300 - 3000 nm) and narrow linewidth (0.02 cm-1). In this contribution we also report on the efficient operation of noncritically phase matched cw mode-locked ps- and fs-OPOs of KTP synchronously pumped by Ti:Sapphire lasers. These OPOs generate stable transform limited pulses in the near infrared (1.05 - 2.9 micrometers ) with power conversion efficiencies of up to 40%.
