Abstract
We present results concerning the microwave and far IR response of several types of amorphous carbon layers using FT spectrometer DA3-36 `Bomem.' We suggest the interpretation of these data in terms of a two-phase model of (alpha) -C:H which is assumed to consist of aromatic and polymer-like components. The samples with hydrogen contamination below 21 at.% are highly conducting in the microwave region and the samples with hydrogen contamination about 30 at.% have a low microwave conductivity that is in a good agreement with the percolation theory. For the samples with hydrogen contents near the theoretical threshold 21 at.% microwave conductivity values differ drastically.
