Abstract
This paper presents an original development of a method successfully used in solving inverse problems (including problems arising in particle size analysis), i.e. the singular system method. We had already tested this method with windows mentioned in literature: very good results were obtained for monodisperse samples, but less satisfactory ones for ground powders samples, with large and smooth distributions. A previous algorithm, based on Gauss functions modelling of the dimensional distribution function, had also some drawbacks. The present algorithm combines the advantages of these two methods by introducing, for the first time as far as we know, a set of Gauss-like window coefficients. The results were very good, both for simulated and real data (talcum ground powder samples).
