Abstract
This paper presents a flexible method for the modelling of the optical active waveguides (Er:Ti:LiNbO3) refractive-index profile which has been reconstructed from a noisy width and depth smoothed intensity profile. The simulation procedure included signal processing of the measured intensity profile by means of a cubic spline approximation and a generalized Gaussian function. The presented model allows the evaluation of the index difference (Delta) n, effective index neff and other parameters which characterize the optical waveguides.
