The research in the field of gradient-index optics provided at the Institute of Applied Optics is reviewed. In particular, achievements in Luneburgs lens theory, measurements of refractive index profiling of gradient index elements and technology of GRIN optics making using ion- exchange in glass during the thermodiffusion process are presented. The bibliography of this work was done.
