Abstract
The new method and the device dedicated especially to viscosity measurements of physiological fluids is presented. In the electrofluidic programmable oscillator generating the alternating flow in the hydraulic capillary resistor (the actual sensing element), the electric current proportional to the pressure drop on the hydraulic resistor is measured twice during each period when the driving coil of the electromagnetic actuator passes the same point but in opposite directions. The measured current is then processed in the way making the final result of measurement absolutely independent of zero drifts of mechanical and electrical parts of the measuring system. Also non linearity connected with the `end effects' of the capillary resistor is eliminated by the processing procedure. The viscometer needs a very small dose of a measured fluid (less than 0.15 cm3). Results of tests are also included showing a good linearity and accuracy of the viscometer.
