Abstract
A method for simultaneous measurements of particle size, velocity and absorption coefficient is proposed by using dual-burst Doppler signals which are obtained in the planar LDV optical system. In the system, two bursts of reflective and refractive Doppler beat signals are produced by passage of a single particle through the probe volume. The particle diameter is obtained from a time difference between the two bursts, while the absorption coefficient is determined from their intensity ratio. Theoretical and experimental investigations were carried out to confirm the usefulness of the proposed method.
