Abstract
The IoT will result in deployment of billions of devices requiring local power. For the indoor environment, ambient light harvesting is a tangible strategy which could reduce reliance on batteries and provide ‘set-and-forget’ functionality. Organic Photovoltaics is emerging as a lead technology for indoor PV due to a number of factors including low intensity performance, tuneable absorption, and flexible form factors. In my talk I will examine the thermodynamics and electro-optics of organic PV for the indoor environment. I will advance a model to predict the performance and analyse current high efficiency OPV systems designed for outdoor AM1.5G solar harvesting.
