We describe in this chapter how to synthesize random electromagnetic fields consistent with a given CSDM. We present three algorithms for generating electromagnetic field realizations: a bimodal-expansion (coherent-modes) approach, a pseudo-modes technique, and lastly, a superposition-rule-based method. Like in Chapter 2, we generate example random fields for each method, present and describe in detail the MATLAB® scripts that produce those random fields, and lastly, analyze the fields’ statistical moments by comparing simulation with theory. Note that all the field realizations generated in this chapter are in the frequency ω domain. In addition, all random fields are WSS, and we omit the ω dependence of quantities, such as the CSDM, spectral density, and spectral degree of coherence (SDoC), for brevity.
