Abstract
Figures of merit are values that denote the benefit of key material properties in
terms of mechanical and thermal performance. Mechanical figures of merit
relate to stiffness, strength, and mass. The stiffness of a material is proportional
to its elastic modulus E, while the mass of a material is proportional to its
density ρ.
