Abstract

This chapter is an invitation to make a positive change for society. By focusing on the value of lighting, we can improve our quality of life and increase the sustainability of our planet. To foster this positive change, first, we must be more specific than we have been in the past in defining the expected benefits of lighting and, second, we must utilize practical metrics that characterize those benefits in applications.
