Personal Account
Why do I need a personal account?
How do I create a personal account?
Anyone is eligible to create a personal account in the SPIE Digital Library. Click "Sign In" at upper right, then click "Create an account."
Please note that all SPIE members and primary SPIE Conference authors already have personal accounts in the SPIE Digital Library. Your SPIE Digital Library username and password are the same as your SPIE.org username and password. If you are not sure if you already have a personal account in the SPIE Digital Library, please try to sign in using your SPIE.org credentials before creating a new account.
How do I access my institution's subscription by using my personal account?
If your institution subscribes to the SPIE Digital Library, your personal account allows you to log in and gain access to your institution's subscription even when you are away from work or school (for example, from your home computer or mobile device). This type of remote access is often called "device pairing."
To configure this, simply sign in to your personal account while on a computer within the institution's network (for example, from a desktop computer or access-controlled wifi network at work or school, or while connected to the institution's network via VPN). This automatically affiliates your personal account with the institution's subscription for a period of three months. After the three month affiliation period expires, you can again sign in while on the institution's network in order to renew the affiliation for an additional three months.
