Abstract
The design of a camera viewfinder having dual magnification is described. Dual magnification means two modes of operation: (1) the "normal" mode in which the actual filming takes place and (2) the "focus" mode in which critical focusing is carried out. This type of viewfinder is ideally suited to camera systems that have large field formats, making it difficult for the user to view the entire field of view instantaneously yet still focus the image exactly on the film.
