An all-fiber tunable erbium ring laser operating in the range of 1520-1570 nm was developed. The ring configuration
employs a Fabry-Perot tunable filter with a Free Spectral Range (FSR) of 60nm and a bandwidth of 60pm. Several
devices developed with different lengths of doped fiber were analyzed showing a trade-off between spectral flatness and
output power. A simple rate equation model was further implemented to analyze the laser properties as its temporal
behavior and the spectral dependence of the laser output. Theoretical and experimental results agree.
