Profile Summary

Antonios Kanaras received his diploma in Chemistry from the University of Crete, Greece. After a Master’s degree in Bioinorganic Chemistry from the University of Ioannina, Greece, he received a Ph.D. in Nanoscience from the University of Liverpool working on colloidal nanoparticles and their bio-applications. He was a postdoctoral scientist at the University of California, Berkeley working on the synthesis and energy applications of semiconductor nanoparticles. Currently Antonios is a Professor at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Southampton, UK and the Head of the Functional Nanomaterials and Applications Group.

Antonios has publications in several high impact factor international multidisciplinary Journals. He has given a large number of invited and keynote talks in prestigious European and International conferences. He has been elected as a fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Fellow of the Institute of Physics and Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology. His research on the synthesis and applications of nanomaterials has been funded by a diverse range of national and international funding bodies.
