Professor Kuball is Director of the Center for Device Thermography and Reliability (CDTR) at the University of Bristol, UK. The CDTR is a world-leading research center focusing on improving the thermal management, electrical performance and reliability of novel devices, circuits and packaging. Since 2001 we have been developing and applying new techniques for temperature, thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity and traps analysis, especially for microwave and power electronic semiconductor devices, made of wide bandgap materials, such as GaN, SiC and diamond. Our team of about 20 international researchers and PhD students works with industry and academia from across the globe to develop the next generation of technology for communications, microwave and power electronics to enable the low carbon economy. In 2015, Professor achieved a Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award for his research on electronic devices; he is Fellow of IET, IoP, MRS and SPIE. His work has been disseminated through more than 300 publications (h-index: 39), as well as in numerous invited contributions at national and international conferences. He has been chair of several international conferences (e.g. ROCS 2017). He has held >20 UK Engineering and Physics Sciences Research Council (EPSRC grants), including as principle investigator of a current programme grant on GaN-on-diamond technology (EP/P00945X/1) and a platform grant on their implementation (EP/R029393/1), 6 EC, 4 DARPA grants, and numerous contracts with industry, in total of >£30M.
