Calculated and experimental studies of the amplitude-time and spectroscopic characteristics of an IR parametric laser based on mercury thiogallate with wavelength tuning in the range 5-9 μm were carried out. The possibility of achieving the maximum energy output up to 5 mJ per pulse with an extremely narrow spectral width of the radiation (≤ 0.5 cm-1) is shown.
