Some practical methods are presented for analyzing and processing the images of self-organized patterns with Matlab 6.5,
including "adumbrating the patterns", "adjusting the images", "locating the pattern units", "describing the brightness
distribution", "Fourier transformation", and so on. Adjusting the images is to make some characteristics of the patterns
more evidently. The method we use for adjusting the patterns is mapping the brightness of the original patterns to a new
range of value. The spatial brightness distribution in the patterns can be obtained with the function "improfile", which
computes the intensity values along a line or alone specified points in the image by using interpolation arithmetic. the
types of the self-organized patterns can be determined by obtaining the spatial frequency spectrum of the patterns using
Fourier transform. The location of the units is pinpointed by convolution operation between the unit digital picture and
the pattern digital picture.
In this work, we present some practical methods for analyzing the structure of spatial-temporal patterns with Matlab, including "Fourier transform", "obtaining the sketch of the pattern", "obtaining the brightness distribution in the pattern",
"filtering the noise in the pattern", and so on. The types of the patterns can be determined by obtaining the spatial frequency spectrum of the patterns using Fourier transform. To obtain the sketches of the patterns can make the measurement of pattern structure parameters easier and more accurately. To obtain the brightness distribution in the patterns can help us to analyze the physics mechanism of the pattern formation systems. To filter the noise in the patterns can make the pattern pictures more clearly. This work can provide a beneficial reference for researchers who study pattern dynamics in different systems.
In this work, an automatic encoding and management system on power fittings (PFEMS) is developed based on laser bar coding technology. The system can encode power fittings according to their types, structure, dimensions, materials, and technical characteristics. Both the character codes and the laser bar codes of power fittings can be produced from the system. The system can evaluate power fittings and search process-paper automatically. The system analyzes the historical values and technical information of congeneric fittings, and forms formulae of evaluation with recursive analytical method. And then stores the formulae and technical documents into the database for index. Scanning the bar code with a laser bar code reader, accurate evaluation and corresponding process-paper of the fittings can be produced. The software has already been applied in some power stations and worked very well.
