A novel method based on fuzzy reasoning for radar clutter suppression is presented. In the method, the features of the returns from the target and clutter are analyzed. Then the fuzzy rules are extracted in order to establish the rule base and model for fuzzy Reasoning. In fuzzy reasoning process, the weight of each input element is updated through adaptive correction mechanism. So as to the output of Fuzzy reasoning converge to the ideal value. Targets and clutter are separated by making good use of the output. And the method achieves the aim of clutter suppression. The experimental results illustrate that the presented method has an ideal effect of suppressing clutter.
