Abstract

The luminescence emitted from the dye jet stream of a CW dye laser pumped by an ion laser is extremely bright. The radiance of this luminescence was measured. It exceeds the radiance of even the strongest high pressure short arc lamps. When pumped with a q-switched laser the peak radiance of this luminescent spot exceeds that of a He-Ne laser.
