Abstract
Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) technology is a high-efficiency thermal oil recovery technology. The numerical simulation of SAGD in fine-scale models is difficult to calculate and time-consuming. For improving computational efficiency of SAGD simulation, this paper studied the seepage characteristics of oil and gas two-phase flow with variable viscosity. Then, the correlation between the key parameter bi of the viscosity-temperature curve and the scale factor θ was proposed. A coarse-scale characterization method for numerical simulation of SAGD reservoir model based on viscosity-temperature curve correction was established. The results show that the proposed method can reduce the simulation deviation to the coarse-scale model lower than 2.26 %, and the computational efficiency is about four times higher than that of the fine-scale model. The findings of this work are of great significance for the accurate numerical simulation of the upscaled SAGD reservoir model.
