Abstract
We investigate dynamical dependencies between seasonal cycles of the tropical Pacific sea surface temperature anomalies on interannual time scales. We demonstrate that the revealed dependencies are changing from linear at the beginning of 20th century to substantially nonlinear in modern climate which can be associated with the increasing frequency of extreme El Nino events observed since the second half of 20th century. The study was supported by the Russian Science Foundation (grant № 22-12-00388).
