Abstract
This paper brings forward the modeling and fFnite-Element Analysis (FEA) method of pipeline dent based on geometric In-Line-Inspection (ILI) data firstly. This method could be used in pipeline integrity assessment with the view of 3D visualization and true strain of a dent after the running of a geometric ILI. The total strain of the dent calculated by this method is coincided with the strain assessed by ASME B31.8 standard. This paper proposed a new method of dent strain calculation for the dent of in-service oil and gas pipeline.
